What is Plotter?

The plotter is used to print the Vector Graphics. This is a type of computer printer. In past, mostly the plotters were used in applications such as Computer Aided Design (CAD). But after sometime it is generally replaced with wide-format conventional printers. A plotter gives a Hard-copy of the output like regular Printers.

How it Works?

If we say in short, Plotters draw a picture on a paper using a pen. Plotters are also used to print designs of hip, machines, plans for building or blueprint of Skyscrapers. It interprets command from computer to make line drawing on paper with one or more automated pens.

Plotters can also draw complex line arts weather it is text or pictures, but it take more time in comparison to the Printers. This is because of the mechanical movement of the pens.

• Plotters are much more effective than any other printer if you want to produce very large drawings or color high-resolution vector-based artwork.
• Plotter is also used for printing very large images because the computer memory was very expensive and processor power is very limited. So it is much effective to use plotters and less the workload of computer memory.
• Multicolor plotters use different-colored pens to draw different colors.
• Plotters are generally considered more expensive than Printers.
• Plotters are widely used in engineering projects because it can produce continuous lines
• Modern Plotters made by HP (Hewlett Packard) use either DeskJet or LaserJet Technology.
• Common manufacturers include HP (Hewlett Packard) and Roland.
