Apple released iOS 10.2.1 and MacOS 10.12.3 on 25th January 2017. The update seems to be more of a minor performance improvement. To the disappointment of many iPhone users, Apple failed to address the now infamous 30% battery bug, which can affect every iOS 10 compatible iPhone with the exception of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The bug causes handsets running iOS 10 to switch off around the 30% mark. Apple has yet to admit the problem extends beyond the iPhone 6S. However, for iPhone 6s the company has opened a limited battery replacement service.
New App Animations
Apple has made some improvements to the app opening and closing animation. The apps now have more rounded edges compared to the rectangle images exists currently.
Find Your AirPods
Apple added a new 'Find My AirPod' option inside the Find My Phone app. The new feature will track the last known location where your AirPods were connected to an Apple device over Bluetooth. However, unlike Find My iPhone, the scope and range of the finding AirPods are limited within the Bluetooth range.
Siri Gets Smarter
Apple opened Siri to the third-party apps with SiriKit in iOS 10. In iOS 10.3, the SiriKIt is being updated with features that will let you pay bills, the status of payments and schedule rides in Uber.
Siri to Show Cricket Scores
With the iOS 10.3 update, Siri will get the ability to show life cricket scores from IPL matches and ICC cricket matches. This also marks a growing inclination Apple is having towards Indian smartphone market in recent months. The iOS 10.3 update will finally enable you to ask questions such IPL rankings and stats of a particular player.
Apple File System
iOS 10.3, while installing, will update the iPhone's file system to Apple File System or APFS. APFS is much more optimized for flash storage and provides features like strong encryption, snapshots, space sharing and cloning for the files and directories.
iOS 10.3 is still in early beta and we can expect Apple to add more additions to it when it comes to iOS devices.
